Calling all Mamas to be! Prenatal massages are the best and I love giving them! Here’s a list of reasons why it can help you through your pregnancy:
Alleviates low back pain

Helps reduce swelling by encouraging lymphatic drainage
Decreases leg soreness and pain
Soothes aching feet
Increases mobility
Improves sleep!
Boosts energy
These are a few of the reviews that I’ve heard from my prenatal clients after my massages! There is something so rewarding in bringing relief to expecting mothers and seeing the appreciation and peace evident on their faces as soon as they come out of my massage room. Happy Mother’s Day!
Sciatica pain is an issue that is becoming more and more common. I have seen, however, that many people who are feeling pain in their backs, hips and legs are attributing it to sciatica when it’s really caused by very tight gluteal muscles; AKA your bottom!
True sciatica is hip and leg pain caused by a ruptured or herniated vertebral disc putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. This pain can be mimicked by a very tight gluteal muscle that also can pinch the sciatic nerve. This is the kind of pain that I can and have helped!
Many of us think that we carry all our stress in our neck and shoulders. While we do carry it there we also put a lot of it in our glutes! If you think about it, many of your back muscles attach in your glutes and many of your leg muscles attach there as well! We are constantly using it while ignoring it. I can get those sore, and sometimes stubborn glute muscles to loosen up by using compression and deep tissue neuromuscular techniques. You will leave with a relaxed heiny and hopefully, a soothed soul.
This is my first massage blog ever. So go easy on me ok? 🙂 Today I wanted to start with one of the major foundations of essential muscle health, good ‘ole H20.
Water, in our day in age, is seriously undervalued and underutilized. We like to run to coffee (which I do still love!), soda or other forms of caffeine when what our bodies are probably craving is water!
The daily recommended amount of H20 is half of your body weight in ounces of water. For example, if someone weighs 160lbs they should drink 80oz of water per day! Now that sounds like a lot, but if you think about it, our bodies are made up of 60% water, our brains are about 70% and our muscles are 75% H20! It is essentially our life’s blood and utterly necessary for healthy muscles. It actually makes them more elastic and able to heal themselves more efficiently. Also, when you receive a massage your muscles will react more quickly and favorably to the bodywork. Not to mention water helps reduce headaches, increase energy and even helps you be in a better mood!
When I’m in a session utilizing the deep tissue or neuromuscular modality, and my client is well hydrated, the muscle or muscle group that I am engaging will relax more quickly and easily than if they were living on mostly soda. This makes their massage more effective.
So when you’re booking your next massage whether it is a Swedish, prenatal, sports or a neuromuscular session, remember to drink up! Your body will thank you!
